As soon as practical, but no later than
12 hours after occurrence of certain incidents,
each person in physical possession of the hazardous material must provide
notification by telephone
to the National Response Center (NRC), (800) 424-8802
or (202) 267-2675.
If the hazardous material is an infectious substance (etiologic agent), this
notification may be made to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC), (800) 232-0124, instead of
the NRC.
