The markings required by Part 172, Subpart D must be:
- durable;
- in English;
- printed on or affixed to the surface of the package or on a label, tag, or sign;
- clearly visible and unobscured (e.g., place markings on background of sharply contrasting color); and
- located away from other markings (e.g., advertising) that could substantially reduce their effectiveness.
